Buttle UK fund grants that support the education and wellbeing of children and young people have been through a crisis that has impacted them, who are experiencing financial hardship and are trying to rebuild their lives.
The beauty of Buttle grants is their bespoke nature. Most of the time, we award fairly normal childhood items. Trampolines. Bikes. School trips. Laptops.
But every month, something extra special and individual is also requested. A model skeleton to help with biology revision. Go-karting activity day for a father and his teenage sons. A prom dress and matching shoes. We can help where we can see that the application meets our criteria and the items requested will make a difference to the child.
Grant applications focus on three critical areas: education, emotional well-being, and housing, with a particular focus on the first two areas. By delivering targeted assistance, it helps ensure that vulnerable children receive the necessary resources to overcome difficulties and reach their full potential.
Educational Support
One of the key pillars of our Chances for Children grant programme is educational support. The grant provides funds to ensure children have access to school items, tutoring and after-school clubs. The goal is to create an equitable learning environment where every child, regardless of their background, has the tools and opportunities to succeed.
Emotional Support
Beyond academics, emotional well-being is crucial for children’s development. The grant can offer counselling services and mental health support for children coping with trauma, stress, or other emotional challenges. This can also include services that provide interventions to help children develop coping strategies, build resilience and improve their confidence. In addition to individual therapy, the grant can be used to access sports or arts activities that promote friendships, peer support networks and group activities that foster a sense of play, community and belonging.
Housing Support
Stable housing is a fundamental need that many children in poverty struggle to maintain. The grant can include funding for essential furniture, white goods and soft furnishings such as bedding. Ensuring children have a safe, stable home environment is a critical step in preventing further disruptions to their education and mental health. We won’t
By addressing these core areas – education, emotional well-being, and housing and identifying the connections between the items and the children’s needs our grants create a holistic support system.
The person making the application needs to know the children to help them identify what is needed and what will move each child on from crisis. Getting the balance right in a grant application of up to £2,400 can be challenging – we’re here to help.
