Free webinar: Forget me not with David Gumbrell
May 6, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Forget-me-not’ is a common name for a common plant, but one with a clever well-being tip embedded within it. Not a medicinal one, more a mental strategy to help and support our wellbeing and resilience. In essence, you should not forget to look after yourself. In order to be the best leader that you can be, an element of self-compassion is needed. Not a guilt-filled added extra, more part of the daily routine of tending to your needs, as well as those of others. The best growing conditions for resilience are to regular offer yourself the basic needs for survival. Warmth, care, support and food – much the same as a forget me not’s needs too!
Audience
Headteachers and senior leaders in primary, secondary and sixth form from maintained, academies, independent, special and alternative provision settings.
Aims
By the end of the session, you will . . .
1) Re-evaluate your current situation
2) Rethink your current practices and reframe them to build in time to ‘not-forget-me’
3) Have suggested ways to incorporate self-compassion into your daily schedule.
Objectives
You will take away the reminder to not forget yourself and have the mental prompt to urge you to promote self-compassion.
Facilitator
David Gumbrell
David has researched and published about resilience for the four years since he left Headship. Leaning into his 7 years of leading a school, he presents this experience in a unique style by connecting with his audience to engage their interest before then delivering the connection to the key piece of learning that he wants them to consider and to reflect on. He wrote one of the Discovery Education Pathway courses and has published three books for teachers, LIFT, RISK and SPIN on resilience and decision making and time and task management respectively.
