Grants to help vulnerable children and young people across the UK

Buttle UK fund grants that support the education and wellbeing of children and young people have been through a crisis that has impacted them, who are experiencing financial hardship and are trying to rebuild their lives.

Schools that are supporting children like this, know the family, and have visited the home, can make an application to Buttle UK for financial support. In the application we ask you to take a holistic view to try and identify what items and activities will support the child’s or children’s wellbeing and educational needs. We can also consider items for the child’s home, if these items have a good impact on education and wellbeing.  We’re particularly keen to receive applications from schools in rural areas.

For example:

  • A child who has had to move to a new home and school following time in refuge might need a uniform, access to clubs to make new friends, therapy to help them understand what’s happened, and clothes, toys and items for their bedroom to replace those they had to leave behind.
  • A child who has had to go and live with a relative might need bedroom items to make them feel at home, family activities to help build relationships, a laptop and broadband to access homework online.

All our grants are bespoke – they are individually tailored to meet the needs of each child or children, so each grant application can be very different. However there are items that are regularly requested and we have created a list [ https://buttleuk.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Item-Guide-Prices-Summer-2024-.pdf ]  (with prices) to help you understand the kinds of things we can award.

If this is your first time applying, we recommend that you contact us by phone or email before making an application.  This will speed up the application process. We aim to respond to applications within 3 working days of receiving them. Our application process is quick and responsive. Strong applications, with all the necessary information [https://buttleuk.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/grant-flow-chart-2.png ]  in them, can be awarded within the same week.
