It would be easy to underestimate the impact that school organisation has on the behaviour, effectiveness, engagement and creativity of the teachers, staff and pupils. Excellent system leadership has a marked effect on the well-being of staff members, and how families and the community relate to the schools.  By improving system leadership schools can provide those involved in the design and delivery of educational services with a coherent and easy-to-follow framework to help run effective organisations.  This course will focus on the skills and characteristics required for effective system leadership, and how system leadership can:

  • Improve leading learning
  • Model moral purpose in action
  • Build leadership capacity
  • Grow independence

You will consider how to form a multi-school structure ensuring it is efficient, effective and financially viable. This course will also consider teaching and support staff structures in more than one school to ascertain whether they are “future proofed” and financially sustainable into the future.
Consideration will be given to multiple school business planning, teaching and support staff structures, and governance. Delegates will have the opportunity to consider how they will develop their existing skills to embrace system leadership skills.

Aims

  • Discuss “what is outstanding system leadership”.
  • Discuss the business, staffing and governance structures within a group of schools.
  • Assess why and how creative workforce deployment across several schools can support schools to achieve improved outcomes and financial viability.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the senior leadership skills required to develop a system leadership structure.
  • Learn how to analyse the essential elements of effective system leadership.
  • Evaluate the skills required for delegated system leadership.
  • Take time to develop a personal training plan.
