In Leadership for Sustainability, David Dixon draws on his doctoral research and experience as a cross-phase head teacher to set out how school leaders can embed tried and tested eco-friendly practices within the school setting that can also be central to overall school improvement, including that recognised by inspectors.
This session will outline practical, evidence-based strategies you can use to switch off when you want to, release pent up muscular tension, stop negative thought patterns, build your own resilience, secure your confidence and avoid the burn out that is so common in the sector.

Resilience remains an important element for all staff, and this includes leaders, such as yourself, who are guiding your teachers through this challenging academic year. So, come and share in the discussion as we all rally to find the strength and conviction to be the best that we can be.

This session will explore how a “line of sight”, linked to the school’s values and mission, can be created that helps each individual ensure they are focused on what needs to be achieved and have the tools, motivation and opportunity to give of their best.
Using the metaphor of a jigsaw puzzle, the session intends to drive a much needed discussion on resilience and well-being. We will attempt to identify the key pieces in that ‘jigsaw’ of well-being. What are the corner pieces, or how can we identify them? What constitutes an edge piece, for you? Come and spend some time thinking of YOU and add self- to the word compassion.
