FlashAcademy, the UK’s No.1 English as an additional platform for schools (EAL), have announced they now have 48 home languages, after adding Ukrainian to the platform, in order to help schools and colleges with refugee challenges.
The platform which helps to increase pupils English proficiency levels through engaging activities and gamified content, have been working over the past few months to respond to the current crisis and ensure that schools will be supported moving forward to assist new Ukrainian pupils. With the new addition of Ukrainian to English on the FlashAcademy platform, schools who use FlashAcademy will be able to support pupils by providing immediate English learning assistance to newly arrived pupils, helping them to learn key everyday vocabulary as well as national curriculum content.
Further to this the FlashAcademy team have also developed a range of free resources to help support newly arrived pupils from Ukraine. These resources include a new free learner profile, including information on how Ukrainian differs from English in terms of grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and writing, as well as a free 30 page Welcome Book, for newly arrived pupils.FlashAcademy is a learning and assessment platform which supports pupils with English as an additional language (EAL), to accelerate their English acquisition through an interactive platform, by teaching a wide range of content across KS1 – KS4, also enabling teachers to assess pupils English proficiency levels and set work accordingly.
